A J Foyt was the greatest all around race car driver of all time.
Wasn't the 69 car the same one Rich was driving?
Love Smokey ! RIP
Awesome guy glad I got to see him run this past season definitely be missed
WOOOOOOOOO RACING!!!!!!! R.I.P.
It did seem that AJ did struggle a bit when downforce and improved steering came in. But what he did with some of those earlier cars was amazing. Only one AJ and Smokey.
Damn
"...still be driving a god damned midget"
I'd love to see Smokey in today's NASCAR. He'd still outsmart them all.
Tore him apart and complimented him at the same time. 😂
A goat talking about another goat.
Many thanks for showing this, these guys were awesome.
My dad is the 19m super stock
Doug?
The inspiration behind Doc Hudson’s Mentor in Cars 3 I would take audio from this if I made a fan made show with Die cast Cars for RUclips
Back when real racers raced Champ cars on dirt.
My dad flipped
RIP DO
Was there.
Smokey Yunick is a great man.
Coming from Smokey a driver couldn t get a better compliment. Smokey was known for speaking his mind regardless of where he was, who he was speaking to or whether he was speaking to one person or in front of a crowd. He obviously was a genius when it came to building or dialing in a racecar. Ray Evernham, Junior Johnson, and Robert Yates combined might make a Smokey.
My father cotton met my mom when he was running USAC MIDGETS AND SPRINTS he met my mom in Mitchell Indiana. I love Bedford, Mitchell, Bloomington, hell all of those little towns and race tracks in Indiana. TIMMY RAY FROM FT WORTH TEXAS SAYS HI.
Smokey is exactly right it's all money it's not telling anymore you don't have no money you're not in a race car
I remember that cold windy evening at Winchester like it was yesterday. Such a tragedy. As the years have passed I learned with the passing of so many friends and family that Robbie short life wasn't wasted. He lived life to the fullest and died doing what he loved. So many of us live long lives but never really get to live out our dreams. Robbie died doing what he loved. Robbie died following his dreams. To Robbie family and friends my thoughts and prayers are still with you all these years later. God speed Robbie Stanley.
This is why I’ve always loved this man.
Searched this because of the the interview on Flo racing at Eldora 😂 Kiss my d***
Great video. Thanks Jack🇺🇸
I really miss Paul Bumgardner racing it's not the same
“Say, Smokey . . . “ The highlight of each issue of “Popular Science” every month during the 1960s.
I talked with Smokey in late 1985 when I was considering switching to Synthetic specifically Amsoil. Smokey said that he had mixed his own Synthetic. When I asked what about Amsoil, he said that he had tested the oil and liked it. While we were on the phone I could hear his false teeth clicking.
From Houston Texas. My buddy Greg worked for AJ Foyt Kawasaki for years.
Deserves to be in the NASCAR HOF
Smokey deserves his own Hall of fame....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe
Old Smokey told the truth .......... that's why they are legends today
He might have been a good driver but he was a total a****** arrogant and very disrespectful two other drivers
Post under your own name, Bobby Unser.
Stick to Tennis
Back in the days when top drivers might find themselves racing in four or more series in the same season. Those guys stayed busy!
The music junked another video horrible crap👎👎👎👎👎👎💩
There was Smokey, then there was everybody else. In a league of his own! .
AJ Foyt was a bad azz. Soft spoken kind of guy. The quite type that just kicked your azz on the track.
Definitely great compliment! I don't think that the fact that a j was number 14 or he even wore the same hat as smokey was just coincidences
They don’t let the likes of Smokey or AJ talk anymore for fear of offending somebody. Those were great days to be a race fan!
Or King Kenny Roberts!
🙌
I saw AJ drive a few times in the USAC stock car series at TriCounty Speedway in Westchester, Ohio. He was great in any kind of car.
You poor little snowflake.
Literally no one is a "offended" as people like you make it out to be. Get off the Internet and go touch some grass
1:33 : Dan Gurney @ Riverside sports car race. I don’t know if he drove Indy or dirt.
6:29 - Sam Hanks, great guy. Won Indy in '57 and retired in victory lane. Only driver to do that. (except for Ray Harroun in 1911)
Big words from the man that got caught cheating more than any other in the history of NASCAR.
It’s not cheating it’s innovating,
@@JoeSmith-dr5gm OIC so he innovated his way out of NASCAR. BAHAHAHAHAHA!
The shot of A.J. Foyt climbing into the back seat of the convertible was taken at the 1964 Hoosier Hundred- the crowd was asked to help "run the (muddy) track in" with their personal cars, and I convinced my Dad to help do this with our family station wagon. As we circled the track, we pulled up next to this convertible and I yelled "Hey A.J. you're going to win today!" A.J. gave me a big smile and a wave. And he did win the race.
I've Only gotten to know HIM through ESPN,& RUclips I was raised in a racing family & appreciate his tallent.Gone too soon
Yelled yella 😂😂
Is John klotz in this vid? I know him irl I wanna know
Well, that woke my Puggle up for a second..cute.
Like Smokey he was a no BS guy
4:41 is Sterling Moss, why is he in the video, not a USAC driver.
Smokey Yunick always beat around the bush... I like it when a guy says what's really on his mind.
Yeah he's a hard guy to read!...lol...from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe
